On 25 April 2023, the Sala del Maggior Consiglio of Palazzo Ducale in Venice was the setting for the fifth edition of the San Marco Prize, an appointment created by the municipal administration to honour citizens and organizations that have brought prestige to the city of Venice and the entire metropolitan area , thanks to their works in science, arts, industry or crafts, work, sport, education, safety or with initiatives of a social, welfare or philanthropic nature.

Among the many citizens of the Municipality of Venice who received the prize, Mayor Luigi Brugnaro also wanted to present four career awards to personalities who have brought the name of Venice to the world or who have worked with great professionalism in the city: swimming champion Federica Pellegrini, actress and presenter Mara Venier, former prefect Vittorio Zappalorto and musician and songwriter Pino Donaggio.
